Happy news, I’m back on TV!

Hmm… thinking about my demo…Just to let you all know officially that I will be back working with Create and Craft from the later part of July onwards… with probably two shows on the 25th. It will take me a little while to settle back in with the huge numbers and constant new products as, having been ‘away’ from it all for two years, it takes some adjusting!

I am very grateful to Create and Craft for being so understanding about my life decision to put caring for my parents above work and I have to say I don’t regret a moment of it, much as I missed everyone in TV land! Once my mother’s dementia gathered speed it was heartbreaking helping them live through it, but I am probably talking to a mass of other carers and many of you know how it feels. Now they are both at peace…. they died within 72 hours of each other, that really is ’till death do us part’ after 55 years or more together.

We had to film loads of the garden, it’s looking lovely just now!To launch my re-appearance on the channel, a film crew came down here last week, lovely guys and so, so very patient! You will probably be seeing the fruits of their labour as a little promo films and pieces on the website. They even filmed and interviewed all the staff which was either ‘terrifying’ or ‘good fun’ depending on who you speak to, so you can have a sneak preview of Pat’s desk or Maggie’s packing area!

Here are some shots we took of them shooting us, so to speak … See you all soon! Smiles, Joanna.

Dear Joanna, sorry to hear of your parents demise. I looked after my mum with severe dementia and it was heart breaking. I still hav'nt got over it yet. The picture in my head is of her nursing a little soft baby doll (which is in the front window of my car) and she died 18 months ago. So glad you are coming back on create and craft. You have been missed a lot. Love and best wishes. .Patricia x

Dear Joanna, I am so sorry to hear about your parents. Lost my Dad at 18, many years ago and my Mother died in 2006 with Alzheimer's. They call it the long goodbye for a reason as each day her memory was lost and more heartbreaking for the careers than the patient themselves. Look forward to seeing you on C & C again, although do not watch as I used to. Take care x

Hi Joanna, so glad you will back on our screens, I have missed you and your wonderful demo's. It will be good for your soul to get back to something you love doing and so the healing process begins. My very closest friend's Father died at the end of last year through dementia and it was awful to watch the man he was changing to someone we didn't recognise and for him to not recognise us. He is at peace now, as too are your parents, and they will be smiling down on you cheering you on! Go for it Joanna, you deserve some crafty fun time now!
    Hugs and see you soon

Dear Joanna, Sincere condolences to you on your loss. The trauma being so sudden can only be eased by the gentle thought that they became together again so soon. There's something quite beautiful about that, in my mind. Huggggs to you xxx

Am delighted to read that you will be on Create and Craft again! It was through you, Jayne Nestorenko and Glenda Waterworth that I learned how to stamp, many years ago now! Subsequently you invited me to become part of your Design Team that I enjoyed greatly. With such an apparent upsurge in stamping again, a whole lot of stampers will be enriched by your demos. Getting back into some serious crafting myself after a few years of ups and downs, culminating in a cancer diagnosis last October. Am happy to say it was treatable and am recovering. On return home after several months on the mainland, I switched on C&C to find guest demonstrators there one day and gone the next! It will be good to see you and as always I'll wave at the screen and this time likely blub haha All the very best to you on this new chapter in your life. Joanna, pleased to know you will be coming back to create and craft. I understand how stressful and tiring looking after an elderly parent can be. I lost my sweet Mum in February, after breaking her femur, luckily the undiagnosed dementia was only just kicking in, so it saved her as well as Dad and I having the anguish of her subsiding further. We were lucky she had reached the age of 96, but now I am left to care for my Dad. One of the sad things was they would have celebrated their 70 anniversary last month. It is the fond memories that keep you going at a timelike this.
It's my birthday on 25th July, so seeing you will be like a present. Bless you and yours.

Wonderful to have you back after your difficult 2 years. My husband and I are both carers for my elderly parents, mum has dementia, dad is a paraplegic . I don't do hardly any crafting these days but I shall be watching you , you have given me much inspiration over the years, thank you x Always wanted to tell you a story about my hubby, a non crafter, always interested in what I created. One year on my birthday he wanted to make me a card, so I gave him permission to play ….He did make me a beautiful card, but he had found my prized possession of Joanna Sheen dried flowers and was rather generous with them lol
