Such a fan!

I am indeed a huge fan of the series of boxed sets I am working on with Practical Publishing. Nothing gives me greater pleasure than being able to be part of creating a product that is stunning value for money. Any one of the boxed sets that have come out so far is highly recommended. These cards come from Cardmaking Collection Issue 5 – it is all based around Victorian fans and has just been so popular, I am glad so many thousands of people enjoyed it.

The boxed sets are always available from lots of high profile outlets, like Tesco and other supermarkets, WH Smith – and of course our website and Create and Craft just to mention a few and I love hearing from Practical Publishing when an issue has jumped off the shelves!

This fan themed issue was a huge success – at the time of writing this, we have a few left here on the website but not sure they will be around much longer.

The great thing is that apart from having great freebies, the magazine that comes in the set shows you how to make every card pictured in the set (including these two) and I don’t know about you but I do love having clear step by steps right in front of me to work with.

The next issue (6) is due in early September and is going to be a real wow – we have been working with Jane Shasky and I know any regular reader of the blog will have seen her amazing artwork, so without wishing away the summer, roll on September!

Jane Shasky vibrant nasturtium card

I am rather fond of nasturtiums. Partly because they grow so easily and fight on regardless of how crummy the soil is… but also because their bright colouring attracts my little granddaughter and she keeps them regularly watered for me!

This image is from one of our Jane Shasky pads called Garden Herbs and the backing paper comes from Jane’s CD – From the Heart of the Garden. I know I say it often, but it is one of those really useful CDs you will use over and over again for many different projects. The papers are fab and so are the images.

The Garden Herbs card making pad has the same really useful selection of pictures on it. I find Jane’s work so easy to use and turn to it frequently. The die is from our Signature die range, Crocus SD470. It has been cut out on green card a couple of times and then a third time with white card and the flowers coloured and snipped off to paper piece the finished embellishment.

Viva Las Vegas!

Wonderful work on the Thomas Kinkade stand.

Dropping in our friends, the Giordano brothers, always a joy.

Well, here we are again in Las Vegas! We come here every year for the ‘Brand Licensing Show’ in the hopes of finding something new and exciting for you. It also means we can meet up with the companies we work with already and talk about future projects.

I had a few pictures taken to show you… The chat with our friends at Thomas Kinkade was excellent and there’s a fabulous kit in the making, due out in October, I think, from Practical Publishing, in our Joanna Sheen Cardmaking Collection series featuring amazing products from Thomas Kinkade. Exciting!

We also just had to visit the Giordano brothers, one of our favourite teams, we love working with them. If you haven’t looked at the Giordano paper pads on the website then please do. There are new plans in the pipeline with them too – watch this space!

We had a long chat with Alicia, Jane Shasky’s agent, and there’s some great new artwork there, plus several others that we like to catch up with while we are here.

Of course, some of the time is free time (yay!) and we love walking down the Vegas Strip (Umm, ok and maybe just a tiny bit of gambling!), and did you know, there are more Michelin-starred restaurants here than any other city in the world? Disaster for my diet but I am working hard at it and clocking up 20,000 steps most days. There are also a lot of fun things here, so I couldn’t resist getting close to Poldark(!) giving the eye to a dinosaur and saying ‘Hi’ to Peppa Pig!

So, hopefully, we have found and negotiated some stunning artwork and projects for the coming few months and had a happy few days as a bonus!
