Family Christmas cards

One of the things I enjoy most about receiving cards in the run-up to Christmas is the addition (hopefully) of up to date photos of my nephews and nieces, cousins and friends’ children. It’s just great to see their little smiling faces and it reminds me that Christmas is so much about family and friends.

This is a sample from my new cardmaking collection from Practical Publishing. The boxed set features one of our favourite artists – Jane Shasky. Her pads and CDs have sold in their thousands for us and she is a special favourite of mine.

The full steps are in the magazine that comes in the collection as are all the ingredients – oh yes, apart from the picture of little Grace! Obviously, you must insert one of your own special people, whether they are young, old or just middling!

Even more fans!

Just available for pre-orders is this latest boxed set from Practical Publishing. As usual, the value of all the ingredients included in the set makes it amazing value and I have loved working with all the bits and pieces.

So, what do you get? Well here is where we have added it to the website if you want to check that out, but basically it includes some really great dies that work well, gorgeous stamps (the rose one in these cards is lovely), a really useful embossing folder, a template to help you make a little cake box, lots of backing papers and toppers and of course importantly the magazine with ideas and full instructions.

It can be so frustrating when you see something in a magazine or elsewhere on the internet and you can’t work out how to make it – well this magazine has full shopping lists and how to makes for every project featured.

I hope you will enjoy using it as much as I have, the cards have all been so simple and that tissue box is amazing isn’t it? What a great use of the embossing folder – and yes all instructions clearly laid out for you to copy, I can think of a couple of friends that would like one of these.

Joanna Sheen Cardmaking Collection

I know many of you will have spotted this Cardmaking Collection back in January when it was released, but we have had so much positive feedback from it – I’m so glad everyone has enjoyed playing with the freebies and the papers – that I thought it would be good to just mention it again.

There are many nice bits and pieces that come with the set – a FANTASTIC embossing folder, that I have loved and used and used, a jug on a lace tablecloth that just goes so brilliantly with the flowers in the kit or any other flowers you choose. The daffodil die is of course very appropriate as the daffs are all struggling to come out now the snow has cleared (at least down here in Devon it has!) and there are so many different designs you could create with this die.

I have to say thank you to some of Practical Publishing’s team that made some of the cards in this picture, Nicky Gilburt, Jo Boland and Sue Hughes. There are many more card designers that worked on this issue and I wish I could mention them all – they are a very talented team.

Also included in this kit is the pretty stencil and of course fabulous rubber stamps and not forgetting the sheets and sheets of backing papers and toppers.

Currently, we have a few copies left so if you fancy one, grab it now before they disappear forever – they never republish an issue!

My latest magazine & boxed set

It’s an exciting week for new items and I felt this one deserved a blog all of its own! This is the new boxed set produced by Practical Publishing and the ingredients, I think, are just such fun toys to play with!

I treat my crafting as a relaxation, an experiment and an enjoyable way to pass an afternoon. I feel these boxed kits offer a really good way to create loads of cards with multiple techniques for a really reasonable sum of money. I have no idea how they produce all the bits and pieces so inexpensively as they are good quality, I guess the economy of scale comes into play when they sell tens of thousands of something! It makes our little company look tiny!

In this issue, I have made a whole section of cards (all the ones featured in the pics here – and more) and you have careful step by step instructions. But as the saying goes, ‘It’s not all about me’… there are talented cardmaking designers who have also contributed (again, with steps) to give you dozens of cards to copy or just to inspire you.

My favourite ‘toys’ in this set are the embossing folder and stamps – if anyone can catch one of my Create and Craft shows on Thursday 25th and Friday 26th January, I will be demonstrating cards from the magazine and I think Create and Craft will be featuring some demos on their website too. The embossing folder has a pretty jug on a table and I had the best time playing and experimenting with it.

So, grab a copy here from our website and relax for a while and stretch your crafting muscles… it’s the nearest I plan to get to the gym anytime soon! Enjoy!
