Dreaming of Thomas Kinkade summer cottages in the snow!

I am sitting warm and cosy, at my desk in deepest Devon, while outside there are quite a few inches of snow! It’s very unusual for us to have snow at all never mind this deep as we’re not far from the sea, which seems to keep things warmer. But not this winter… although is March still classed as winter?

So I thought a warm comforting selection of pictures would do us all good! Here you can see Thomas Kinkade at his best. Gorgeous summery cottages, flowers and peaceful fields and a pony or three that looks very content. Not so my daughter’s horse at the moment, I digress I know, but poor Bobby the grey horse is a very grumpy chap this morning. He has four blanket things on (can you tell I’m not horsey?) and has been given a warm breakfast and is still giving any human nearby the evil eye, assuming I guess that it could be any one of us that has caused the drop in temperature! Last night when tucking him into bed (believe me if they did 4 poster beds for horses she would buy him one) the temperature outside the stable was -6 degrees C …. I wouldn’t like to be out in that it has to be said, I have an electric blanket …. Result!

Anyway back to Thomas. These pictures are from our latest Thomas Kinkade pads, volume 5 and volume 6 and they are some of the best yet. I have tweaked the design slightly so you get co-ordinating backing papers contained within the pad and that seems to have hit a chord with many of you. For example that lovely red brick gate post has a matching red brick wallpaper in the pad, then there are frames and sentiments as well as the usual decoupage and borders. Lovely pads and very, very popular everywhere in the world that we sell to.

So all these three cards have main images and backing papers from the pads, have a look at our website and see if you fancy making a happy summery card today!

PS Apologies to those of you reading in other countries that are either hot and sunny currently, or like my friend Cheryl in Michigan, totally unimpressed by a measly inch or six of snow!

Thomas Kinkade’s beautiful skies

I chose to group these cards together to show off Thomas Kinkade’s talent when he painted skies. The light and the effects are just stunning, aren’t they?

He produced several pictures of boats and maritime-themed images but the central windmill scene is one of my favourite skies in the latest collection we have produced. These are from the Thomas Kinkade Pad 5 and Pad 6.

Judging by the hugely enthusiastic response we have had to the latest couple of Thomas Kinkade pads, the concept of mixing backing papers and images in the same pad is going to be a good ongoing idea.

You can see three of the papers included in the pads here – the stripes to the left and a couple of lovely cloudy skies. I do find it convenient having reached for the pad, almost everything I need is there at my fingertips! I am talking to the powers that be at Thomas Kinkade’s management team and hopefully we will have four new pads coming out in the next six months, including some very pretty Christmas ones.

Exciting new Thomas Kinkade pads!

There are four separate hours of me on TV later this week – 25th and 26th January – so I thought you might like a sneak preview of one of the new products!

I have created several new and exciting products for the shows and we will also be celebrating the fact that this is my 15th anniversary with the channel. Oh my, how time flies!

This card is taken from one of the two new Thomas Kinkade pads that feature on the shows. The main difference is that apart from the usual fab toppers and borders, decoupage and embellishments, we have also included a selection of new backing papers, some gorgeous frames to take the pictures and loads of sentiment boxes.

Everything co-ordinates so you have some lovely choices to make cards. I will be doing plenty of demonstrations on the shows including many Thomas Kinkade ideas and samples.

Viva Las Vegas!

Wonderful work on the Thomas Kinkade stand.

Dropping in our friends, the Giordano brothers, always a joy.

Well, here we are again in Las Vegas! We come here every year for the ‘Brand Licensing Show’ in the hopes of finding something new and exciting for you. It also means we can meet up with the companies we work with already and talk about future projects.

I had a few pictures taken to show you… The chat with our friends at Thomas Kinkade was excellent and there’s a fabulous kit in the making, due out in October, I think, from Practical Publishing, in our Joanna Sheen Cardmaking Collection series featuring amazing products from Thomas Kinkade. Exciting!

We also just had to visit the Giordano brothers, one of our favourite teams, we love working with them. If you haven’t looked at the Giordano paper pads on the website then please do. There are new plans in the pipeline with them too – watch this space!

We had a long chat with Alicia, Jane Shasky’s agent, and there’s some great new artwork there, plus several others that we like to catch up with while we are here.

Of course, some of the time is free time (yay!) and we love walking down the Vegas Strip (Umm, ok and maybe just a tiny bit of gambling!), and did you know, there are more Michelin-starred restaurants here than any other city in the world? Disaster for my diet but I am working hard at it and clocking up 20,000 steps most days. There are also a lot of fun things here, so I couldn’t resist getting close to Poldark(!) giving the eye to a dinosaur and saying ‘Hi’ to Peppa Pig!

So, hopefully, we have found and negotiated some stunning artwork and projects for the coming few months and had a happy few days as a bonus!
